MATTUS, Stephen S.
Stephen S. Mattus, 81, of Hartford died Friday, (February 1, 2013) at his home. He was born in Hartford, son of the late Sergei and Daria (Rudiuk) Mattus, and had lived in Hartford his whole life. Steve worked for Bliss Market in Wethersfield for over 40 years where he developed a large network of friends. He was a US Army Veteran of The Korean Conflict. Steve was an avid bowler, having bowled in several area leagues, and a huge Hartford Whalers fan. He is survived by a brother John Mattus and his wife Anne of West Hartford, two nieces; Elizabeth Swietek and her husband Fred of West Hartford and Marsha Mattus Mehmel and her husband Ed of Southington, five nephews, Michael Dzamba and his wife Sally Ann, of Arizona, Mark Dzamba and his wife Pam, of Newington, Robert Fowler and his wife Niki, of North Carolina, Gregory Mattus and his wife Anne of Wethersfield, and Paul Mattus, of Simsbury as well as many grandnieces and grandnephews. Stephen was pre deceased by two brothers, Peter and his wife Helen Mattus and Paul Mattus, two sisters, Teckla Dzamba and her husband Michael Sr. and Mary M. Fowler and her husband Robert. He was also predeceased by a nephew John Mattus.
The funeral will be Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, 11 a.m. at the Dillon-Baxter Funeral Home, 1276 Berlin Tpke., Wethersfield. Visiting hours will be Friday, from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Donation in his memory may be made to the
