Theresa WILLARD Obituary

WILLARD, Theresa

Theresa (Levesque) Willard, 85, of Las Vegas, NV and a long time Plainville, CT resident, passed peacefully on May 4, 2012 after a brief illness. At her side were two of her children, daughters Candace (Rousseau) Dodds of Burlington, CT and Becky Willard of Las Vegas as well as son-in-law Rob Dodds. Theresa was born in Graniteville, VT on December 29, 1926. She is predeceased by her husband of 51 years, Fred, their daughter Anne McCullough who died in December 2011, their eldest grandson, Michael Rousseau and four of her six siblings. She is survived by two other children (sons) and their spouses: Gary and Barbara Willard and Ron and Corrine Willard, all of Plainville. Theresa also leaves behind three grandchildren: Robert Willard of Bristol, CT, David Cruickshank of Barre, VT and Katie Willard of Plainville and one great grandchild, Alexandra Willard of Bristol, CT. She will be missed by two surviving sisters, Eileen Duff of Northfield, MA and her family and Rita Morrissette of Berlin, VT and her family. Theresa's absence will be felt by her sister-in-law, Voila (Brown) Willard of Barre and her family and her son-in-law, Scott McCullough of Woodbury, VT. Her family says she will not be forgotten by her friends in the Farmington Care Center and the Regency Palms Assisted Living Center. At both places Theresa liked to attend music programs, watch movies and sports (she was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan) and play bingo. The family wishes to publically thank the staff of both facilities for taking such good care of Mom.
A memorial service was already held in Las Vegas for her friends and caretakers at Regency Palms. They enjoyed two of her favorites: ice cream and cranberry juice. A special song, "My Way" was performed by Leon Gilliam, a former Platter and frequent performer at the Palms. An open service will be held to honor Theresa at St Mary's Church in Unionville, CT before she is taken to her final destination of the Randolph Veteran's Cemetery, Randolph VT, to rest beside her husband. The cemetery service will also be open to anyone who wishes to attend. These events are tentatively scheduled for the first week of July and those wishing to attend should contact any member of the immediate family closer to that time for details.
