Therese "Terry" (Messier) French of Chatham, MA, formerly of Hartford, CT, passed to eternal life on January 5, 2013. She was the loving wife of Robert "Bob" N. French for nearly 60 years. She is a 1947 graduate of the nursing school of Hartford Hospital where she worked until she met and later married Robert French on Feb. 14, 1953. Over the next decade their family grew. Therese's love for her family was the focus of her life to her dying day. Her hobbies; sewing, knitting and cross stitch, centered on enriching the lives of those she loved. Terry and Bob spent many years vacationing on Cape Cod where they eventually retired. Terry loved living on the Cape and enjoyed having her children, grandchildren and in the last years of her life great-grandchildren came for visits along with their many friends and extended family. Terry was a devout Catholic who found solace and comfort in her faith. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Sorrows Church in her youth. As a wife and mother she became an active member of Saint Lawrence O'Toole Church, both in Hartford, CT. When she and Bob retired they continued practicing their faith as members of Holy Redeemer Church of Chatham, MA. The members of the Hospice staff at Liberty Commons helped her remain connected to her faith during the last days of her life.
