Thomas Drzewiecki, beloved husband of Mary Pierce Drzewiecki and loving father of five daughters, died in Rhode Island on August 31, 2013 after a long illness. Born in Bristol, CT on December 2, 1930, Tom was the son of the late Frank and Teresa Kuczmarski Drzewiecki. A graduate of Bristol High School, he and his family lived in Burlington, CT for 43 years where he served as a volunteer fireman. He worked at Superior Electric in Bristol where he retired as a general foreman. During his 38 years at the company, Tom was a key member of the team that installed the first automated manufacturing system. Tom enjoyed traveling during his retirement years. In the past thirteen years he maintained residences in both Rhode Island and Florida where he was active in both communities. In addition to Mary, his wife of 61 years, he leaves his five daughters: Dawn Amaral and her husband Robert, Jane Rackliffe and her husband Dan, Terry Warenda and her husband Al, Holly Kaseta and her husband Robert, and Beth Okun; he also leaves ten grandchildren, including Brian Hershey, Adam, Tyler and Kevin Rackliffe, Lauren and Derek Amaral, Kaitlin Kaseta Brundage, Elizabeth Kaseta, Kelly and Kevin Okun; and three great-grandchildren: Payton, Parker, and Lilian. He is survived by a brother, Frank Drzewiecki and a sister, Arlene Zaleski. He was predeceased by his brothers Robert and Richard Drzewiecki. Tom was known to all as strong, patient, intelligent and compassionate.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Burlington Congregational Church, 268 Spielman Hwy, Route 4, Burlington, CT. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Moffitt Cancer Center Foundation, P.O. Box 23827, Tampa, FL 33623-3827 (
