Ugo L. Giovannelli, 95, of Westerly, RI, widower of Antoinette Giovannelli and husband of Bertha (Boilard) .iovannelli, passed away on Monday (April 15, 2013) at home. Ugo was born in Frattura, Italy on Oct. 4, 1917. He was the son of the late Joseph and Nancy (Grillo) Giovannelli. He immigrated to the United States with his family in 1927, spending his childhood in Greenport, NY. He resided in Bristol most of his adult life, moving to Rhode Island with his wife to enjoy being close to the ocean 18 years ago. Boating, fishing and golfing were his lifelong passions. He was a WWII veteran, serving his country with the United States Air Force. Prior to his retirement he was employed by the North Side Bank and Trust Company. He was a former member of St. Anthony Church. Besides his wife, Ugo is survived by his son Alan Giovannelli of Tennessee, his daughter and son-in-law Laurene and Jim Palmer of North Windham, his daughter-in-law Gloria Giovannelli of Farmington, a brother, Etore Giovannelli of Greenport, NY, his granddaughter Antoinette Giovannelli of Tennessee and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Ronald Giovannelli and two brothers Claudio and John Giovannelli.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, April 18, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Ann Church, 215 West St., Bristol. Burial, with military honors, will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol.
