Valentino "Biagio" Casasanta(1930 - 2013)

Valentino "Biagio" Casasanta, 83, of Enfield, beloved husband of Loretta Ann (Olszewski) Casasanta, entered into eternal rest on Saturday (November 30, 2013) with his loving family by his side. Born in Hartford on February 3, 1930, the son of the late Vincenzo and Rachel (Petrella) Casasanta. Valentino was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, having served during the Korean War. A graduate of Bulkeley High School class of 1942. He worked for 25 years for the sheet metal Local 40 and 20 years at the Simsbury Post Office. Val was a member of the VFW post 6123 in Windsor Locks. Val was an avid Boston Red Sox fan. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, reading and crossword puzzles. Besides his wife of 51 years, Valentino is also survived by his daughters Cynthia Mangini and her husband Joel of Enfield, Janice Cousino and her husband Mark of Wethersfield and Gail Crusha and her husband Robert of South Windsor; his sister Leonella Giansanti also of South Windsor; his loving grandchildren Beverly, William, Christopher, Sarah, Alexander, Lauren, Evan and Matthew and his adored great- grandchildren Vincent and Carrie. He was predeceased by his brothers Fiore, Alexandrio, Dominick, Victorio, Vincenzo, Americo and Armando. Funeral services will begin at 9 a.m. on Wednesday (December 4) from the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. at Corpus Christi Church, 601 Silas Deane Highway, Wethersfield. Burial with military honors will follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield.
