Walter Pistel, 68, of Windsor, beloved husband of Marie Diane (Parent) Pistel passed away Monday, (July 1, 2013) at Hartford Hospital. Born November 10, 1944 in Springfield, MA son of the late, William and Imelda (Jette) Pistel, he grew up in Springfield before moving to Hartford and West Hartford before settling in Windsor in 1983. He served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Walter recently retired from Connecticut Business Systems, in Newington after 24 years. He was an avid New York Yankee fan and enjoyed his backyard pool and taking cruises with his wife and family. Besides Diane, his wife of 37 years, he is survived by a son, Butch Dufour and his wife, Kris; a daughter, Michelle Lavoie and her husband, Daniel; five grandchildren whom he loved and adored, Shelby Dufour, Samantha Lavoie, Daniel J. Lavoie, Lindsey Loubier, Amanda Loubier; a sister, Ann Duquette and her husband, Roland. He was predeceased by a sister, June Belanger; a brother, Carl Pistel.
His family will receive friends Saturday, July 6, 2013, from 3-5 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 5 p.m. at Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor.
