Wanda V. (Gnatowski) Jackson, 88, a longtime resident of Newington, passed away on Saturday (November 17, 2012) at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford. Born on January 30, 1924, Wanda was the daughter of the late William and Antonina (Tomczykowski) Gnatowski and the beloved wife of the late Walter A. Jackson Jr. Prior to her retirement, she enjoyed working in the retail industry in management and marketing. Wanda was a faithful parishioner of Grace Episcopal Church in Newington and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Women's Auxiliary. In her leisure time she enjoyed gardening, the art of cooking and reading. Wanda is survived by her two sons, Walter A. Jackson III, and his wife Maritza of Annandale, VA; and William M. Jackson and his wife Susan, of Raleigh, NC; as well as her grandchildren, Natasha, Kassandra, Allison and Adam.
Wanda's funeral will begin with calling hours on Friday morning, November 23, 2012 at the Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington, from 9:30-10:30 a.m., followed by services at Grace Episcopal Church, 124 Maple Hill Ave., Newington at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford.
