ALLIS, William H., Jr.
William H. Allis, Jr., 66, of Hartford, died Sunday (January 20, 2013) at Hartford Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Bill was born in New Haven, Mar. 22, 1946, the son of the late William Allis and Edith Vonaa. He is survived by his children Jennifer Allis-Vazquez, April Allis and William Allis; several grandchildren; and his brother, Robert Allis. Bill is also survived by a close friend, Jonathan Rucker, of Hartford. Bill will be remembered as a kind and giving man who was a great storyteller and cook. Bill dedicated his later years of life helping others at the Immaculate Conception Shelter. Bill was former Squadron Commander of the Sons of the American Legion, McKinney King Squadron, Hartford, and a brother of the East Hartford Loyal Order of Moose. Bill's family wishes to extend special thanks to Jonathan Rucker for his endless dedication to Bill during his illness, to the staff and residents at the Immaculate Conception Shelter of Hartford, who were near and dear to Bill and to the staff on CB2 at Hartford Hospital who until Bill's death treated him with compassion and kept him comfortable.
At the request of family funeral services will be private. A public memorial service will take place at a later date.
