William J. "Wild Bill" Sojka, III, 63, of Windsor Locks, beloved husband of Eva (Fortin) Sojka for 29 years, entered into eternal peace surrounded by his family Tuesday, (February 19, 2012) at Johnson Memorial Medical Center in Stafford. The son of the late William, Jr. and Julia (Kelly) Sojka, Bill was born and raised in Rockville, CT. A Vietnam Veteran, Bill served honorably in the U.S. Marine Corps. Happily retired, he had been a resident of Windsor Locks since 2004 and previously resided in East Hartford. A true traveler at heart, Bill rode thousands of miles of highways and back roads on his 1994 Harley Road King spanning the North American continent. He was proud that he accomplished his bucket list and was able to see the sights and enjoy the people and friends he made along the way. He dedicated his life to three things he held in high regard; love, friendship, and children. He also enjoyed riding with his close group of friends, the Freewheelers. When he wasn't riding, he also spent his free time wood carving. Besides his wife Eva, Bill is survived by a son, Eric Carson and his wife Sherry of Jackson, TN; a granddaughter, Madelyn Carson; two brothers, Rich and Gerard Sojka, and three sisters, Patricia Reed, Diana Dopp, and Tara Kelly, and his mother-in-law, Geraldine Fortin of East Windsor.
A funeral service celebrating Bill's life will be held 3 p.m. Saturday Feb. 23, 2012 at the Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St., Windsor Locks. His family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral home prior to the service from 1-3 p.m. Saturday afternoon. Burial will be held at a future date.
