Walter Lawrence

BLANK BOX FOR SPACING   LAWRWALT   Walter Lawrence, 81, of Cromwell, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, (October 30, 2003). He was the husband of the late Virginia Lawrence, who went into God's care on Sept. 7, 2003. Born in New Britain, he was the son of the late James Walter Lawrence and Lucy (Moore) Lawrence. He was a former New Britain resident, a Berlin resident from 1954 to 1986, and a resident of Port St. Lucie FL, living his summers at Camp Spofford, NH before moving to Cromwell. Walter was formerly employed as an electrician, working at Johnson Electric in Newington and at Curtain Electric in New Britain. He was a US Coast Guard Veteran, serving in the North Atlantic during World War II. He was a member and past treasurer of IBEW Local 37 in New Britain. He was a member of the Wethersfield Evangelical Free Church, and had served as a youth leader, Sunday School Superintendent, Deacon, and Trustee at church. He is survived by a son, James Walter Lawrence of East Hampton; four daughters and their spouses, Kathleen Johnson of New Jersey, Janis and John Romegialli of Higganum, Jerrlyn and Douglas Welch of Acton, MS, and Jill E. and Randy Hasty, Wycliffe missionaries based in Dallas TX; a sister Ruth Borkowski of Cromwell; 12 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, Nov. 6, at 11 a.m. at the Wethersfield Evangelical Free Church. Burial will be in the State Veterans Cemetery, Middletown at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
