Charles Scovill Obituary

SCOVILL, Charles Talcott Charles Talcott Scovill, 99, of Middletown, died at Middlesex Hospital on (March 22, 2009). Beloved husband of the late Catherine (Starkie) Scovill. Born in Middletown, son of the late John T. and Georgiana (Lord). Mr. Scovill was a self employed carpenter for many years. He was a member of the Deep River Fire Department, a founding member on the Deep River/ Chester Lions Club, he was a 40 year superintendent for the Chester Fair Grounds, building all of the original building and bleachers, 60 year Mason, member of the VFW and the Deep River Town Hall Restoration Committee. He is survived by his three sisters: Olive Larson of Meriden, Doris Clark of East Hampton, Bernice Petterson of Winter Haven, FL; a brother J. Lawrence Scovill of Cromwell; as well as many nieces and nephews. Charles was predeceased by his brothers: Fred, John and Ronald. Visiting hours will be held at Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main St., Centerbrook on Thursday, from 5-7 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, 2 p.m. at the First Congregational Church in Deep River. Interment to follow at Fountain Hill Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Deep River/ Chester Lions Club.
