Coincidentally, my mother (Irene) died 3 weeks prior, and her Brooklyn sister Bertha passed 2 weeks after your dad. Please accept my condolences My heart goes out to all of you. To the Vece Family:
The students at Hall High School mourn the loss of Daniel Vece. He visited our school for several years and each time he spoke with compassion, humor and clarity. He and his fellow Iwo Jima survivors taught my students a lot about service to our country. I am so grateful to have known him. I will keep his and other survivor stories alive in my history class. Know that he will be missed...we are thinking of you.

I had the honor of knowing Dan Vece, both as a colleague at the Department of Economic Development and as a good friend who’s door was always open . He was a respected professional in his work and a devoted family man . He always gave 100 percent and never asked for anything in return. His dedicated service to our Country and the Town should not be forgotten.
A truly special person has passed on.

My very best to the whole family - The town of Clinton was a better place because of Dan Vece Jr.

The Vece Family;
During this Holly season of Easter god has called one of his special servants. I worked with Dan at the State Departmrnt of Commerce. His energy and devotion to his job and the people he serves was an insperation to everyone around him. He loved the Town of Clinton, The fire Department and his love for his Country. May he rest in peace. His spirit and leadership has impacted anyone who had the benefit of his company.
With respect and honor to a very good person.

As I climb the stairs at the HCH Library and see the osprey above , I remember the day Dan called about an osprey lying in his yard. She had broken her neck while flying into a wire. I decided that it could be useful as an example for teaching and learning about this beautiful bird. I took it home and put it in our basement freezer and started the state and federal paperwork necessary for having her stuffed and mounted for public viewing. It took awhile but Arabella perches contentedly and visitors can get close to this bird. Dan, thanks for the call

Dan Vece, my beloved classmate and friend through the years. When my brother was killed in World War II, Dan was stationed nearby and returned home to serve at his funeral Mass and pay his respect to me and all my family. How fortunate the town of Clinton has been to have had such a man. My condolences to his entire family.

Dearest Tommy, Marsha, Nancy, Bud and your families. As I walked by the Clinton Fire Dept today and saw the sign, "In Memory of Former Fire Chief Dan Vece," I felt such sadness in my heart. Mr. Vece was a strong presence in my life from grammar school, through high school. It seemed he was always there to help us kids with our projects. I was very fortunate to run into him a few times during the last few years and he always remembered me. He was a special human being who will remain in the hearts of everyone who knew him.
God Bless you all,

Dear Tom, Marsha, Nancy and the entire family of Dan.
Words can not express the loss everyone feels. There are so many memories of all your Dad has done throughout his life. Being in the house next of yours was one of the highlights of my life. We kids did get into mischief, but also had a lot of fun.
Let the love you feel for him replace the weight of sadness in your hearts.

I remember Dan from the many parades I went to as a child. He was the man who would sing. I always thought as a boy he must be a really important man to be able to sing out of the big speakers at the parade. I remember him next when I started to work at the Town Hall. Dan would help Tom and I with the flags on the poles down Rt#1 and I have know him ever since. Dan was a gentelman and a great addition to the town of Clinton. I will miss him and my thoughts go out to all of his family and friends.

Dan will be remembered by his countless friends for many of his remarkable qualities. We in the Wednesday bridge group will remember his wonderful sense of humor, his engaging personality and his willingness to always lend a hand. Our Christmas parties will never be the same without Dan leading us in the Twelve Days of Christmas.

To Tom Vece, my student at Morgan School forty-six years ago: I extend my condolences on the passing of your father. His extraordinary life of civic involvement and family devotion is so typical of his Greatest Generation. I remember well his taking command of a bomb scare at Morgan in 1965--a Marine was there, and all would be right. Perhaps the kind of man he was explains why you are the man you've been. Best regards, William G. Hall of Newington.
