Samuel DiMauro Obituary

DiMAURO, Samuel Anthony Mr. Samuel Anthony DiMauro, 78, of Scoville Hill Rd., Harwinton, died Sunday, (September 14, 2008) after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. He was the beloved husband of Ann (Novajosky) DiMauro. He was born in Torrington, on June 10, 1930, the son of the late Mary (Avampato) DiMauro Zappulla and Joseph DiMauro. He graduated from Torrington High School and the School of Cosmetology. He owned and operated his hair salon, "Image by Anthony" for over 30 years in Canton. Sam had a love for sports which he passed onto his children and grandchildren. He played tennis with The Greater Hartford Tennis League. His compassionate nature was evident through his involvement with Boy Scouts, his church, volunteering his time in the CCD Program and spending numerous years coaching and supervising the Harwinton Little Program. Sam also served his country in The United states Air Force during The Korean War. In addition to his wife of 55 years, he is survived by his five children, Nancy Davis of Winchester, Samuel DiMauro Jr of New York, Thomas DiMauro of Colorado, Robert DiMauro of Torrington and Ann Barrante of Goshen; and 16 grandchildren. He also is also survived by three sisters, Millie Lopardo, Rose Moscaritolo, Margaret Barredo; and two brothers, Sebastian DiMauro, Joseph DiMauro. Funeral Services will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Harwinton, at 10 a.m. on Thursday, September 18. Burial will follow at New Saint Francis Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday, 6-8 p.m. at Phalen Funeral Home, 285 Migeon Ave., Torrington. The the DiMauro Family, my deepest sympathy on the loss of Anthony. He was my hairdresser and my mother's for many years. I drove by the plaza in Canton where he had his salon recently and thought about him. I am so sorry to hear of his passing.
