Paul Averill Obituary

AVERILL, Paul B. Paul B. Averill, 87, of East Hartford and formerly of Manchester, beloved husband of Ruth (Ritchie) Averill, passed away Tuesday (July 17, 2007) at Manchester Memorial Hospital. He was born August 28, 1919 in Rocky River, OH., son of the late Peter and Margaret (Greife) Averill and moved to Manchester as a young boy. Paul was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving during World War II and was a Machinist at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft for many years. He then had worked as a parts salesman in the automotive industry for many years throughout the Greater Hartford area and retired from the Stephen's Auto Group. Mr. Averill was a longtime member of the South United Methodist Church in Manchester. In addition to his loving wife he is survived by a daughter Janis Hartley and her husband Richard H. Hartley III of Marlborough, brother Robert Averill and his wife Vera of East Hartford, two sisters, Jewell Friedman and her husband Donald of New Hampshire, Jean Hawley of Washington State, four grandchildren Rebecca Hartley and Richard H. Hartley IV both of Marlborough, Meredith Burr and her husband Jeremy of Middletown, Matthew Parda of Florida and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter Joyce Parda. Funeral services will be held Friday July 20 at 1 p.m. at the Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St., Manchester. Burial will be in the East Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 12 Noon until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Parkinson Disease Foundation, 27 Allendale Dr., North Haven, CT. 06473.
