JENSEN, Eleanor
Eleanor "Ellie" (Bauer) Jensen, age 91, died in her sleep in the loving care of her family on August 16, 2012. Eleanor was the daughter of the late Fred and Anna (Haberen) Bauer. She was born June 30, 1921 in Unionville, where she was raised and attended school. Eleanor and her husband Bob spent their married life of 59 years in Avon and she in later years lived in Bristol. Eleanor worked in her family's print shop, The Bauer Print, in Unionville for over 20 years. She loved bowling, cards, games, trips to the casino and was a diehard Red Sox fan. She had a great sense of humor and always loved to tell jokes, but her true love was her family. She leaves three sons and two daughters, Kathleen Mckenzie and her husband Ron of Shrewsbury, MA, Robert W. Jensen Jr., and his wife Jane of Church Hill, MD, Donald F. Jensen and his wife Joan of Marlton, NJ, Gary P. Jensen and his wife Gail of Farmington and Cindy Schaller and her husband Rick of East Hampton; she also leaves 14 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Jensen Sr.; her infant daughter Janet; both parents; and three younger brothers, Alfred, Wallace and Warren Bauer.
A memorial service will be held at Grace Congregational Church, 110 South Road, Farmington on Wednesday August 22 at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Avon. Special thanks to Eleanor's granddaughter Erica Silvestri who opened her home for hospice care and a loving gathering place for family. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory can be made to; The Hole in the Wall Gang, 555 Long Wharf Drive, New Haven, CT 06511.
