Guglielmo Conti

1923 - 2016

Cav. Guglielmo Conti, 92 of East Hartford, beloved husband of the late Rosario (Pedolla) Conti, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, March 27, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. Born on October 12, 1923 in Scicli, province of Ragusa, Sicily, Italy he was the son of the late Bartolomeo and Concetta (Torrente) Conti. Guglielmo worked at the Morland Valve Co. in Manchester until he began his retirement in 1988. He was a member of the St. Lucy of Siracusa Society for more than 50 years. Guglielmo loved spending time reminiscing of his past, especially during his military service as well as the many wonderful experiences while residing in Italy and finally moving his family to the United States in 1955. Guglielmo enjoyed playing cards; listening to Italian music; classic movies; classic cars; and cooking. He specially loved the homemade Italian meals prepared for him by his wife Rosaria of 69 years. His pride and joy was his family and many dear friends with whom he loved spending quality time with. He will be dearly missed by his children, Bart Conti and his wife Nilce of Fairfield, Concetta Burgio and her husband Carlo of East Hartford with whom he made his home, and Joseph Conti and his wife Joanne of Manchester; four grandchildren, Zina and her husband James Mason of Indian Trail, NC, Simona and her husband Emilio Simoni of Rocky Hill, Heather Conti of Manchester, Alessandra and her husband Corie Gugliotti of Wethersfield. He also leaves seven great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Jacob, Giada, Malena, Sofia, Michela and Annalia; as well as several nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Besides his wife and parents, he was predeceased by two daughters-in-law, Patricia Conti of Manchester and Michele Conti of Raleigh, NC; and two sisters and one brother of Italy. Guglielmo's family would like to extend their sincere gratitude and appreciation to the entire staff at Hartford Hospital Hospice and Maria Costa and Amanda Fee for their loving care and quality of life for Guglielmo during his final days. Funeral service will be Thursday (March 31, 2016) at 9 am from the D'ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 am at St. Luke Church, 66 Bolton Street, Hartford. Entombment will follow at Cedar Hill Mausoleum, Hartford. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home chapel in East Hartford on Wednesday (March 30, 2016) from 4-7 pm.
