Clara Clark Obituary

Clara (Gower) Clark, 94, of East Hartland, widow of John Henry Clark, died Wednesday, (July 31, 2002) at a local nursing home. Born in East Hartland, daughter of the late Constant and Rose Mary (Schwaller) Gower, she had been a lifelong resident of East Hartland. Before retiring, she was employed by the Allstate Insurance Co. and was previously a teacher in a one room schoolhouse in the 1930s at Center Hill School, Northeast School, and South Hollow School, all in Barkhamsted. She was a member of the First Church in Hartland, Congregational, and a former superintendent of the Sunday school. She leaves seven grandchildren, Jeanette Robblets and Lori Pajer, both of Southwick, MA, Linda Sabo of Torrington, Barbara Stewart of Barkhamsted, Gail Noack of Ft. Collins, CO, Robert Noack and John Noack, both of East Hartland; 14 great grandchildren; and six great great grandchildren. She leaves a sister-in-law, Vera Gower of East Hartland; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Beatrice A. Noack; and a brother, George Gower. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 3, 10 a.m., at the Hayes-Huling & Carmon Funeral Home, 364 Salmon Brook St., Granby, with the Rev. Susanna Fitch-Slater officiating. Burial will be in East Hartland Cemetery. Her family will receive friends TODAY, 6-8 p.m., at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the East Hartland Volunteer Fire Dept., South Road, East Hartland, CT 06027.
