Elnora CASE Obituary
CASE, Elnora G. (Hills)
Elnora G. (Hills) Case, 97, a resident of Simsbury for most of her life, died Thursday morning, (February 9, 2012) at the McLean Home in Simsbury. She was born in Hudson, New Hampshire a daughter of the late Harland and Gladys (Snow) Hills and was a graduate of Simsbury High School. Elnora and her late husband Vernon W. Case, Sr. co-owned and operated for many years the former Case Flower Shop of Simsbury. She was a member of the Simsbury D.A.R., Simsbury Grange, Simsbury Garden Club. Elnora was also an active member of the First Congregational Church of Simsbury and its former Haystack Club. She was nominated in 1988 as one of Simsbury's Hometown Hero's as well as an avid UCONN Women's Basketball fan. She leaves a loving son, Vernon W. "Vern" Case, Jr. and his wife Judy of West Suffield; a brother, Almond Case and his wife Freenie of York, ME; two granddaughters, Deborah Brigada and her husband John of Broad Brook, and Darcy Walsh and her husband Tom of East Granby; four great-grandchildren, Vincent and Nicolas Brigada and Jordan and Aidan Walsh; as well as several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Calvin Case and her sister May Russell. Elnora's family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff and doctors at the McLean Home for the dedicated and loving care that was provided during her illness.
A private graveside service will be held at Simsbury Cemetery and there will be no calling hours. Contributions in her memory may be directed to the Old Drake Hill Flower Bridge, P.O. Box 314, West Simsbury, CT 06092. Arrangements are by the Hayes-Huling & Carmon Funeral Home of Granby.

Vern, Sorry to hear of your mom's loss. Actually I was thinking of your family yesterday and found this. Elnora was my earliest exposure to a gifted, talented, hard working, and strong women. Your family hired me as delivery boy in the 60's. She was always very nice to me . Regards, Mike Betz

I was sorry to hear of the loss of Elnora. I met her for the first time in 2008 when we visited her at home. I was impressed with her activities in her community, and her interest in genealogy.

In loving memory I, Janet Smith Gilbert, wish to express my condolences. I am part of her Hudson, NH family and she always made us feel like she really wanted to keep the relatives in Hudson close to her. I remember her as vivacious, loving and sincere.

Dear Vernon and family. We are in Florida and just read about your Mom on the courant website. I remember so well when she created the beautiful floral arrangements at Case Florists. All last summer she came to a group at McLean that I facilitate called "Reminisce with Mary". She told us so many stories of days gone by in Simsbury. She was so proud of being one of the oldest members of the DAR and the Congregational Church. She was one of a kind and Simsbury has lost a wonderful lady.
