ERICKSON, Ida M. (Thompson)
Ida M. (Thompson) Erickson, 87, of East Hampton, beloved wife of Dennis Erickson died Thursday, October 4, at Chestelm Health and Rehab in Moodus. Born April 14, 1925 in Lubec, ME, she was the daughter of the late Harvey and Grace (Scoville) Thompson. Ida worked for the Middlesex hospital for 17 years as the Payroll Supervisor and had worked as the Assistant Town Clerk for the town of East Hampton under former Town Clerk Pauline Markham. Ida was very active in community and Veteran's affairs, serving as a Life Member in the VFW Ladies Auxiliary of Post 5095, a member of the American Legion Post 64 Auxiliary, the Democratic Town Committee for over 40 years. She was a Past President of the VFW Auxiliary 5095 from 1955-1959 and was the 6th District President from 1957-1958. Ida also served on numerous department commissions and was the only woman to ever serve on the Board of Fire Commission, first as secretary and then as chairman retiring in 1992. Ida leaves her husband Dennis; and was predeceased by her two sisters Helen Thompson Mahar and Irene Mealey.
A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, Oct. 9 at 11:30 a.m. in the Spencer Funeral Home, 112 Main St., East Hampton with the Rev. Thomas Kennedy officiating. Burial will follow in the Connecticut State Veteran's cemetery in Middletown. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
