VERONESI, Marjorie Parks
Marjorie Parks Veronesi departed this life on May 31, 2012 with her loving children by her side and the love of family and friends in her heart. Marjorie was the wife of 47 years to the late Anthony Veronesi. She was born in Presque Isle, Maine, on February 14, 1933, to the late Harry and Elizabeth (Tompkins) Parks. She was the youngest of their thirteen children. Marjorie attended Aroostok State Teachers College for a short time before moving to CT with her parents at the age of 19. It is there at Caldwell Industries that she met the love of her life, Tony. They were married in Presque Isle on June 27, 1954. The following year they were blessed with the birth of their son, Michael Paul, and four years following that their twins, Christopher Mark and Christina Marie. The family relocated to East Haddam in June, 1969. While living in East Haddam, Marjorie worked for Beckett Academy (The Founders School), the Office of the Superintendent of the East Haddam Schools, and in 2006 ended her career of 32 years as a Teachers Aide to Virginia Hayn, Pat Beaudry, and her dear friend Laurie Hall. Marjorie was known for her quick wit and kindnesses shown to others. She was well loved by the staff at East Haddam Elementary School and leaves behind many special friends. Marjorie's greatest joy of her education career was helping children learn to read. She loved experiencing the moment of seeing in a child's eyes the spark and awareness of the gift of reading, and loved knowing of the world that would open to them. Marjorie was a passionate sports fan to the Boston Red Sox and the UCONN Women's Basketball Teams. She was fortunate to have attended several UCONN games with "The Girls." She was also an avid reader, enjoying the works of Patricia Cornwell and John Grisham. She was also a wonderful cook, a talent her family will dearly miss. Family was the core of Marjorie's life. She leaves behind her son, Michael Veronesi, of Plainville, CT, his daughters, Julianna and Maria, and their mother, Kathryn Veronesi; her son Christopher and his wife Cynthia Veronesi, of East Haddam, CT, and their children, Meagan and Nathan; and her daughter, Christina Veronesi, her husband, Andrew Sebula, of Portland, CT, and their daughters, Kathleen and Stephanie Poulin. She also leaves behind her step-son, Gerald Veronesi, his wife Gloria, and their children, Gerilyn, David, and Gina. Marjorie is survived by two siblings, her dear sister Clara Bragdon and her husband, Darrell, of Lakeland, FL, and Richard Parks and her dear friend and sister-in-law, Ruth, of Windsor, CT. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Dolores Mazzarella of Higganum, CT, and several nieces and nephews including her godsons Brad Parks and Scott Farley. She was predeceased by her brothers, Ralph, Harry and Earl Parks, and sisters, Ella Burtt, Ada Stephenson, Florence Mosher, Leota Moreau, Leona Hutsko, Helen Morgan, and Una Corley. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Miklos Fogarasi of Middlesex Hospital for his special care and attention to the health and wellbeing of their mother for so many years. They would also like to thank Dr. Nikolai Podoltsev and the wonderful 12th Floor staff of Yale New Haven Hospital, Smilow Cancer Center, and a special thank you to the staff and volunteers of the Weiss Hospice and Palliative Care Unit and Dr. William Zeidler for the care which allowed their mother a peaceful passing.
The family will receive friends at the Spencer Funeral Home 112 Main St. East Hampton on Monday evening, June 4, from 4-7 p.m. Funeral services will held on Tuesday, June 5 starting at 11 a.m. in the Spencer Funeral Home followed by burial in the Connecticut State Veteran's Cemetery in Middletown at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Weiss Hospice and Palliative Care Unit, 28 Crescent Street, Middletown, CT , and The Rosalyn Simons Daitch Fund for Acute Myeloid Leukemia at Smilow Cancer Hospital, New Haven, CT. I will never forget her dedication and support to all of us during our athletic careers at Hale-Ray. She was an extremely special lady who always wore a smile on her face and was quick to lend encouragement when we needed it most. My thoughts and prayers go out to the Veronesi Family and all those who loved Marjorie.

Tenderly… may God's love heal your sorrow. Gently… may the prayers of friends ease your hurting. Softly… may God's peace replace your heartache with warm and loving memories.
