Shirley Foss Obituary

Shirley Agnes Foss, 72, a lifelong Old Saybrook resident died Monday (November 19, 2001) at the Saybrook Convalescent Home after a long illness. She was the daughter of the late Chester and Hermine (Shirley) Foss. She was a former columnist for the NEW ERA and office manager for Olsten Corporation. A graduate of Vinal Technical School, she pursued a nursing career in the Rehab. Unit at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital until her retirement in 1993. Survivors include her children and son-in-law, Paul Deckelman, Sr. of Old Saybrook, Pam and Paul Pytlix of Essex; three very special grandchildren, Brooke Deckelman, Paul Deckelman Jr., Mark Deckelman; her devoted sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and Daniel Stoughton of Holland, PA; her nephew, Michael; and nieces, Val and Ann. Relatives and friends may call the Swan Funeral Home, 1224 Boston Post Rd., Old Saybrook on Saturday, November 24, from 10 a.m. followed by a service at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Old Saybrook. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to Make A Wish Foundation of CT, 940 White Plains Rd., Trumbull, CT 06611 or Shoreline VNA, 210 Main St., Old Saybrook, CT 06475.
