BLAIS, Therese F.
Therese F. Blais, 85, of Colchester, widow of the late Donald F. Blais, passed away Sunday (February 3, 2013). Born in Natick, RI on Dec. 12, 1927, she was the daughter of the late George and Lorea (Thuotte) Picard. Therese was a graduate of Bryant College in Rhode Island. She and Donald were married in 1951 at St. Joseph Church in West Warwick, RI and together shared 21 years of marriage before he predeceased her on Nov. 7, 1972. After her husband's passing, while still raising her family, she began working as a Teacher's Aide at Halls Hill Elementary School in Colchester for many years before her retirement. Mrs. Blais was a faithful and longtime communicant of St. Andrew Church in Colchester. Therese will be remembered most fondly by her family as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and devoted friend to all who knew her. She will be sadly missed but always remembered by her four children and their spouses, Marc Blais of Colchester, Lori and Rodney Higgins of Colchester, David and Terry Blais of Fairfield, ME and Joanne and Steven Cohen of East Hampton; four grandchildren, Justine and Walker Higgins and Sarah and Evan Cohen; two brothers, George and his wife Muriel, Picard of West Warwick, RI and Norman Picard of Warwick, RI; a brother-in-law, Raymond Blais of East Greenwich, RI; four sisters-in-law, Virginia Blais of No. Kingstown, RI, Cecile Blais of Coventry, RI, Bernadette Blais of Warwick, RI and Jane Blais of Warwick, RI; and many cherished friends and extended family members. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by two brothers-in-law, Robert Blais and Senator Leo D. Blais; and a sister-in-law, Claire Picard.
Friends may call 9:30-11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6 at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Road, Colchester. The celebration of the Funeral Liturgy will follow at 12 noon at St. Andrew Church, 128 Norwich Avenue, Colchester. Graveside services will be observed 11:30 a.m. Thursday Feb. 7 at the Elm Grove Cemetery, 954 Tower Hill Road, No. Kingston, RI. Donations in her memory may be made to the American Heart Association, 5 Brookside Dr., Wallingford 06492.

Dear Blais Family:
We are sorry for your loss but quite joyful at your mother's birth into Heaven where, as sweet and holy as she was, she can now worship the Lord (something she loved to do) face to face as it were. She was a remarkably kind woman and incredibly devoted wife and mother. She will be missed. My she rest in peace.
