CHAMIS, Alice Laurette Robida

Alice Laurette Robida Chamis, 67, died March 12, 2013, in her home in Port St. Lucie, FL. She was born in Middletown, where she lived most of her life before moving to Port St. Lucie in 2008. She received her bachelor's degree from the University of Connecticut and paralegal certification from the Hartford College for Women. In her 41 year career in law she worked for four law firms, ending at Halloran & Sage LLP. She was a member of the Central Connecticut Paralegal Association and a founding member of the Connecticut Association of Real Property Professionals, serving as its first corresponding secretary. More recently, Alice was the secretary for the Spanish Lakes Golf Village Homeowners Association, and helped organize the charity Seniors Supporting Soldiers. She enjoyed bowling, bocce ball, and card playing. Survivors include her husband of 47 years, William Chamis; mother Irene Robida of Cromwell; daughter, Deborah Winicki of Stafford Springs; sons William Chamis Jr. of Roselle, NJ and Jeffrey Chamis of Port St. Lucie, FL; a brother and three sisters, and eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Richard Robida, and her brother, Richard Robida.
