RODRIGUEZ, Angel
Angel Rodriguez, 80, of Rocky Hill, beloved husband of the late Alvilda (Calixto) Rodriguez passed away peacefully, Tuesday, (September 11, 2013) at Apple Rehab Center of Rocky Hill surrounded by his family. Born May 16, 1933 and raised in Cidra, Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Juan and Maria Rodriguez Vicente. Growing up in Cidra, Angel worked with his father farming. He moved to Massachusetts in 1960, and then relocated to the Hartford area in 1968. Prior to his retirement, he was employed at the Newington VA Hospital. Angel will be fondly remembered by his loving family, four sons, Angel Rodriguez Jr., John Rodriguez, Julio Rodriguez, and Antonio Rodriguez all of Hartford; three daughters, Maria Zayas and her husband Gerardo, of Broad Brook, Eucaris "Caris" Guzman and her husband Benny, of Windsor; and Blanca Iris Rodriguez from New York; a brother, Antonio Vicente; and a sister, Virginia Calixto. Angel was blessed with 17 grandchildren, as well as five cherished great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and close friends. In addition to his wife and parents, Angel was predeceased by a son Victor Rodriguez; and siblings Elvira Santiago and Victor Vicente. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the entire staff at Apple Rehab Center of Rocky Hill for all their kind and compassionate care extended to Angel during his eight years there.
Friends and relatives may pay their respects Tuesday, September 17, 2013, from 5-8 p.m. at Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd, Wethersfield. The funeral procession will commence from Farley-Sullivan, Wednesday, September 18, at 11 a.m., with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Angel's life at 12 p.m. in St. Augustine Church, 10 Campfield Ave, Hartford. Interment will follow with full military honors at the Connecticut State Veterans Cemetery, Bow Lane, Middletown.
