DELORENZO, Anita
Anita DeLorenzo, 72, of Bloomfield, beloved wife of Allan DeLorenzo, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, (November 3, 2013). Anita was born on March 13, 1941 in the small town of Poznan, Germany. Living in the Bavarian town of Bad Abling with her family, survivors of WWII, she met Allan, a soldier in the U.S. Army stationed in Germany. They were married in 1958 and would have celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary in December. Moving to America in 1960, Anita proudly became a U.S. citizen. Anita taught herself the English language and spent her days raising her family. She returned to school, earned her GED and associates degree - Summa Cum Laude from Greater Hartford Community College. Before retiring in 2012, Anita spent 23 years as the Calendar Clerk for the State of Connecticut House of Representatives. Anita was the former owner of Helene's Boutique in Bloomfield, always enjoying her weekly excursions into the garment district of New York City. Anita was actively involved in local Bloomfield politics as an officer of the Democratic Town Committee and Chairwoman at district and town levels. Anita was a champion of fitness as a runner, biker, swimmer and walker. Anita had a green thumb and took great pride in her flower gardens with many of her blossoms extraordinary. She especially took pride in cooking and entertaining for Sunday dinners, backyard parties and holiday gatherings. Above all else, Anita treasured her large extended family. Anita was a strong, devoted, caring and compassionate wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Anita was the loving and devoted wife to Allan, mother to her sons, Michael and his wife Lucida of Berlin, Robert of San Antonio, Texas and Kenneth and his partner Lisa Enslow of Farmington. Anita was the loving and nurturing "Oma" to Mitchell of Worcester, MA, Maximillian of Berlin, Steven and Sarah of San Antonio, Texas and her great-grandson William of Berlin. In addition Anita leaves her family in Germany, including brother Harry and wife Renate Meier, nieces Sylvia and husband Freidemann Grau, Claudia Weiss and Michaela Ganssl. Anita also leaves to cherish her memory her in-laws, Susie and Ron Neistein of Bloomfield, Mickey and Herb Wohl of New York and Mickey DeLorenzo of Florida. Anita was predeceased by her parents, Erwin and Alma Meier, her sister and brother-in-law Liebgard and Alfred Weinhart , and most recently by her brother-in-law, Ross "Buzzy" DeLorenzo. Anita will be dearly missed by her husband, children, grand-children, great-grandson, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and many of dear and special friends and co-workers she made along the road of her amazing life.

Anita and I greeted each other warmly when we met after attending Capitol Community College in late 70's early 80's. We both were older student's and enjoyed our time in class and the younger students. I am sure she will be missed. My sympathy to all her family.

My deepest sympathies to all who loved Anita and was touched by her life. I knew Anita from her time at House Clerks, where we would chat about happenings around the Capitol. I also learned she was probably the most fit person I knew when we took Pilates at the Hartford YMCA together. Excerises which I could barely do, Anita did with great ease although she was over thirty years my senior. She was and will always be an inspiration.

Our deepest and heartfelt sympathy to Allan, Michael, Robbie, Ken and the entire family. As House Calendar Clerk, Anita was a consistently reliable team member who took tremendous pride in a job well done - and the people of Connecticut were well served by her efforts. They don't make them like her anymore. Anita's infectious laughter and irreverent wit always made those late nights at the Capitol so much more bearable. May the lasting comfort of the love that was shared lift you and hold you close, and give you peace. We know you miss her terribly, and we miss her just as much. All of us here at the Office of the House Clerk will continue to honor her memory and have you in our thoughts and prayers.
As you danced in the light with joy, love lifted you. As you brushed against this world so gently, you lifted us. ~ T.C. Ring
