Anita Wickwire Kane

Anita Wickwire (Conn) Kane, 52, of Avon, beloved wife of Emmett C. Kane for 25 years, passed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Thursday, December 26, 2013, at home, surrounded by her family. Born in New Britain, she was raised in Simsbury and attended Simsbury schools, graduating from Simsbury High School in 1979. She received her BA in 1983 from the College of Wooster in Ohio. Anita had been a receptionist at Valley Community Baptist Church and for many years has been active with the Middle and High School Ministries at the church with her daughters. Also involved with the community, Anita was especially active in Friends of Avon Music. Most important to Anita was her family and spending time with them and her friends. Besides her husband Emmett, she leaves her mother, Una (Doyle) Conn of Simsbury; her daughters, Rosalie R. Kane and Emily J. Kane, both at home; and her sister, Virginia "Ginny" Conn of Burlington. Her family will receive friends, Friday, January 3, 2014 from 5-8 p.m. at the Carmon Funeral Home & Family Center, 301 Country Club Road, Avon. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 4, 2014 at 10 a.m. at Valley Community Baptist Church, 590 West Avon Road, Avon. A reception luncheon will be served directly following the service.
