Anita Rachek Viets

1929 - 2013

Anita Rachek Viets, 84, of East Granby, beloved wife of Adolph W. "Chic" Viets, Jr. for 67 years, passed away Wednesday, (December 25, 2013). Anita was born January 5, 1929 in Feeding Hills, MA, the daughter of the late Sidor and Anna Rachek. Besides her husband, she is survived by her son, Richard W. Viets of East Granby and his partner, Nancy Thurston of East Windsor; a daughter, Bette V. Jensen and her husband, Edward of East Granby; two step grandsons, Lee Jensen and his wife, Elizabeth of Enfield, Ryan Jensen of St. Petersburg, FL; three step great grandsons, Nicholas, Nathaniel and Noah all of Enfield; three sisters, Helen Lesure of East Longmeadow, MA, Mary Schmaelzle of Feeding Hills, MA, Catherine Malachowski of Westfield, MA and many nieces and nephews. Anita was predeceased by her sister and her husband, Olga and Francis Viniconis; her brother and his wife, Paul and Mary Rachek; three brothers-in-law, Ralph Lesure, Peter Malachowski and George Schmaelzle. Anita worked for several businesses before becoming executive secretary at Combustion Engineering, retiring in 1985. She was also very active I town and church affairs over the years. Anita had a love of the outdoors, sports, especially the Boston Red Sox and the UCONN Lady Huskies, and a great love for animals, especially her cats. Anita's family will receive friends Monday, December 30, 2013 from 10 -11 AM, at Nicholson & Carmon Funeral Home, 443 East St. N. (Rt. 159), Suffield, followed by funeral services at 11 AM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, East Granby.
