Anna Carta Obituary

Anna (Spada) Carta, of Middletown, beloved wife of Frank A. Carta for almost 66 years, passed away on January 10, 2014, surrounded by her loving family at the Middlesex Health Care Center in Middletown. Born January 15, 1928 in Cromwell, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Emanuella (Luistro) Spada. She was predeceased by her daughter Carol (Carta) Carlini of Middletown, Connecticut, and her brothers Louis, Salvatore and Anthony, Jr. Spada, all of Cromwell. Anna is survived by her beloved sister Rosemarie (Spada) Organek of Portland, Connecticut; son Carl and his wife Patricia Carta of Middletown; son Robert Carta and his partner Michael Icenhour of Charlotte, NC; and daughter Anne and her husband John Gauthier of Middletown. Anna is also survived by her eight loving grandchildren: Cara Carlini, John, Jr. and Matthew Gauthier, and Kelly, Meghan, Laura, Jennifer and Michael Carta. Anna's grandchildren were truly her pride and joy. In addition, Anna is survived by her many treasured nieces and nephews. Anna exemplified the ability to balance both work and family when she resumed her lifelong career in banking in the early 1960's. Over the course of her long and well-respected career, she progressed to the position of branch manager at First Federal Savings Bank in Durham. The family would like to extend a thank you to Anna's outstanding caregivers at the Middlesex Health Care Center for providing great comfort, love and compassionate care to Anna, Frank and the family for almost eight years. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Felicia Milewski, Richard Marero, LaShonda Moore, Eliza Solomon, and Richard Plasczynski, Jr. The family will receive visitors in celebration of Anna's life on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 from 5-8 p.m. at D'Angelo Funeral Home, 22 South Main Street, Middletown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday January 15, 2014 at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 10 Elm Street, Middletown, where Anna was a faithful communicant. Interment will follow immediately after Mass at Calvary Cemetery, 307 Bow Lane, Middletown. Dear Frank,Carl,Anne,Bob, and your families, the dear ones who loved her and whom she loved so very much;
You know you have my caring thoughts. It is always hard to say good-bye to someone who was such a special part of our lives. Sadly, the last chapter of Ann's life was a difficult one, but she is now without human strife. May knowing that help you as you adjust to the days ahead without her here. She will always be a part of you. As you continue to live your lives you will be daily reminders of her goodness. I will never forget the kindness she has shown me through the years.

Comfort for the family is the fact that their dear wife/sister/mother/grandmother touched so many lives, leaving this world a far better place in a life filled with love. I greatly admired her vast knowledge in all aspects of creating a beautiful and welcoming home. I also found that she was very modern, excelling in a demanding career outside the home. I never saw her hands idle, and appreciated the many lessons she taught to me, a person lacking in domestic ability.
I am certain that she will be welcomed into her everlasting home from which she will continue to watch over us all.

Dear Bob,

I was very sad to hear about the passing of your mom.
Although, I am rejoicing that she is no longer suffering and in pain.
Nothing can replace the emptiness of a Mother's place, may you be comforted in knowing her amazing journey is just begun....
My thoughts and prayers will be with you and your family in the difficult days ahead of you!
