Anne (Wessels) Gurnon Warner, 85, of Woodbridge and formerly of Tolland, wife of Alden Warner, passed away peacefully on Monday (July 15, 2013) after a long illness. The daughter of the late Ernest and Elizabeth (McAvoy) Wessels, Anne was born, raised and started a family in Boston before moving to Tolland in 1963. Anne has lived in Woodbridge for the past two years. She was predeceased by her first husband, Robert K. Gurnon to whom she was married for 30 years. Anne was an active member of the Tolland Senior Center Chorus and a devoted member of Saint Matthew Church. She will be fondly remembered for her meticulous housekeeping, tremendous sense of style and fashion, her love of song and dance, her friendly outgoing nature, her enjoyment of a good laugh and her chocolate chip cookies. Anne will also be remembered for her energy, organization, and get it done attitude. She is also survived by her beloved children, Robert Gurnon and his wife Alice of Abington, MA, Ronald Gurnon and his wife Florrie of Weymouth, MA, Roy Gurnon and his wife Darlene of Tolland, Robin Kenefick and her husband Thomas of Woodbridge, and Rodney Gurnon and his wife Sherri of Mansfield, MA; nine grandchildren, Jill Gurnon, Robert Gurnon, Donald Tantillo, Alicia Sampson, Amanda and Karen Gurnon, Lauren and Patrick Kenefick, Courtney, Max and Lucas Gurnon; seven great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Talia and Dominic Tantillo, Ella, Claire, and Stephen Sampson and Declan Ferris; she is also survived by two sisters Elizabeth Kersey of Mansfield, MA and Barbara Driscoll of Virginia Beach, VA and numerous nieces and nephews as well as five stepchildren, Scott Warner, Bonnie Durscharme, Gail Doyle, Alison Doherty and Mark Warner. She was extremely proud of all of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Anne will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Her family would like to acknowledge and are grateful for the loving care extended by the staff at Emeritus of Woodbridge as well as VITAS Services.
Her family will receive friends for calling hours on Sunday, July 21, 2013 from 4 - 8 p.m. at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road (Route 83), Vernon. Dear Al, Bob, Ron, Roy, Robin and Rod;

Kim and I are very sorry for the loss of your Mom. We both know how it feels to lose a mother--no matter the state of our Moms prior to passing, when they leave us it hurts. You never get over your Mom; she is really the strong one of the family--and so true about your Mom. She raised a great family; one I am proud to say is my brother-in-law. God Bless

We will always remember Anne's warm hospitality and gracious manner in welcoming us into her home when we visited my sister, Dorothy(Barrows)Oldham. This was in the late 1960's and early 1970's. Dot was a neighbor and close friend of Anne and we were always included in the invitations to gather in Anne's home. May our most heavenly Father who brought Anne into all our lives, bestow upon you his peace that passes all human understanding. J.R. and Carol Proud

To all of you...
You are all in my thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.. Ann will now be free of any pain and be sorrowing high in the heavens to watch over each of you, losing a mother is like losing the roots to a very big tree.. The only words I can tell you is, she will live in your hearts and memories forever, so stay strong...God Bless you all...

Bob, Ronnie, Roy, Robin, Rodney and Al and families.
It is with a sadness that I received the news about Anne's passing. She truly loved her children and grandchildren and her life and the way she lived it is an inspiration to all of us. May all your wonderful memories comfort you. Certainly I have such wonderful memories of all our times together. Anne was the truest of all friends and I shall never forget the special times we shared. With all my love.

To Uncle Alden: Thank you for bringing Anne into our family for over 20 years. We embraced her as family, and enjoyed her presence at family gatherings. She was a delight to talk with, and she will be missed. To Anne's family: Thank you for sharing your mother with us all these years. Your mother always had a lot of love to give, and now leaves the Warner family with deep-felt sorrow. God Bless!
