PIGNONE, Anthony M.
Anthony M. Pignone, 88, of Wethersfield, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, (August 27, 2013). He was the beloved husband of Mary (Lombruno) Pignone for 59 years. Born in Hartford, he was the son of the late Gennaro and Esperanza Pignone. He grew up with his family, many relatives and friends on the former Front Street in Hartford, and often remembered and enjoyed talking fondly of those times throughout his life. He was a graduate of Hartford High School class of 1942. Shortly after, he enlisted in the army during World War II and spent the next 4 years in the Persian Gulf Command. He had many war stories that he loved to tell and was recently flown to Washington D.C. and honored as a World War II veteran. After his return back to Hartford, he studied at The University of Hartford, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Business and Accounting. He lived in Newington for many years and worked at Kaman Aircraft for several years before starting his own business, Adams Industries in Windsor Locks, where he was Vice President until he retired. In his leisure time he enjoyed golfing, bowling, and traveling. After retirement he resided in Wethersfield and stayed active in bowling leagues and was President of the West Hartford Squires Club in 2011. Above all, he was a family man who loved spending time with his wife, daughters and grandsons. A devoted, loving and supportive husband, father and grandfather, he leaves his loving wife Mary, his daughters Nancy Loveland of Cromwell and Susan Pignone of Wethersfield, and his grandsons Nicholas Loveland and Justin Loveland of Cromwell. He also leaves his three sisters, Ann DiNardo of Windsor, Grace Amodeo of Rocky Hill, and Antoinette Grottole of East Hartford. He was predeceased by his brother Michael Pignone. He also leaves many beloved nieces and a nephew. Heavens gain will be a loss that will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
