Anthony F. Stanaitis

1931 - 2014

Springfield - Anthony F. Stanaitis, 82, of Chicopee, MA, formerly of Bloomfield and East Granby, CT, passed away Friday, January 17, 2014 at Baystate Medical Center. He was born in Scranton, PA on February 18, 1931 to the late Anthony and Anna (Steponaitis) Stanaitis. Anthony was a warehouse manager for Culbro (General Cigar) for 50 years retiring in 2001. He was an avid, Boston Red Sox, NY Giants and UCONN Women's basketball fan. Anthony loved the outdoors and especially loved fishing, hunting, gardening and woodworking. He also enjoyed bicycling, metal detecting, doing puzzles and playing the slots at the casino. Anthony had an ear for polka music and loved to dance. He adored his pets which in turn adored him. Anthony was a generous and strong willed man with a mischievous sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him. Anthony leaves his wife of 63 years, Alice (Banning) Stanaitis; his two daughters, Joan Cuascut and her husband Miguel of Windsor, CT, and Laurena Hernandez and her husband Ray of Chicopee, MA, one granddaughter, Amy Tirillo, and eight step-grandchildren, Jasmine, Ray, Melody, Mark, Krystal, Angel, Misty and Angela; and one great-grandson, Mason Tirillo of Greenacres, FL.
