MINNEFIELD, Barbara J. (Calhoun)
Barbara J. (Calhoun) Minnefield, 1937-2013, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, wife of the late Horace Minnefield, died at her home in South Windsor, CT on Sunday, October 27, 2013. She retired from Westside Multicare in Manchester, and at her request her body was donated to Yale University Medical School for study and research. She is survived by five children, Clyde Minnefield, Wayne (Alma) Minnefield, Gale V. Knowles, Max R. (Rosalyn) Minnefield, and Joann M. Ryan; two grandchildren and a great-grandchild; two sisters and three brothers, Bennie Mae Gray, Alreatha Calhoun, Edward Calhoun, Willie Calhoun, and Ben Calhoun; numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her husband she was predeceased by a son, Darrell Minnefield, four sisters and a brother.
In memory of Barbara a Memorial Service will be held at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 239 Graham Road in South Windsor on Saturday, Nov. 2 at 11:30 a.m., with a reception to follow. Her family will receive relatives and friends from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Her family requests that memorial donations be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, (for research of amyloidosis), 321 Research Pkwy, Suite 212, Meriden, CT 06450.
