BROCK, Bernadine A. (Simon)
Bernadine A. (Simon) Brock of Glastonbury, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, (July 27, 2013) at home surrounded by her loving family. Bernadine "Bernie" was the beloved wife of the late Charles Y. Brock. She was born June 15, 1931 in Hampton, MN and was the daughter of the late Julius and Eva (Ludwig) Simon. Bernie spent her early and young adult years in Hampton and Hastings MN where she received her high school and college education and several years later she met and married the love of her life, Charles. Her husband's business opportunities brought them to Connecticut where they happily set their roots in Glastonbury, to work and raise their growing family. Bernie was in the manufacturing industry for many years, holding positions in 3M in St. Paul, MN and Walker Products, Inc., Glastonbury, manufacturers; of chalk, bulletin boards and visual aids, which she owned and served as President for 32 years. Bernadine enjoyed her life by raising her family and spending time traveling, reading, shopping and relaxing with family and friends in Connecticut, Delray Beach, FL and Newport, RI. She was a member of the National Duckpin Bowling league from 1983 to 2007. She was a kind, generous and patient woman and was known by her children as "the greatest mom" and she will be greatly missed. She is survived by her children Charles Brock Jr. and wife Lisa of East Hampton, Carrie Brock of Manchester, Holly Troy and husband Steven of Hebron, Jay Brock of Glastonbury, Linda Connors and husband Michael of Norwich, Paul Brock of Glastonbury and Maura Jean of Glastonbury. Her grandsons Charles III, Trevor, Ryan, and Brendan and granddaughter Emily as well as many nieces and nephews and close friends. Bernadine was predeceased by a daughter Laura, brothers Lawrence and Gregory Simon of Hasting, MN and a sister, Rita Morgan of Muskogee, OK. Bernie's family would like to extend their appreciation and thanks, for their efforts and kindness to the staff at the VNA of Glastonbury and to the many healthcare professionals she met along the way.
A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, August 2 at 10 in St. Dunstan Church, 1345 Manchester Rd., Glastonbury, CT, followed by burial at Holy Cross Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, PO Box 1000, Dept. 146, Memphis, TN 38148 or to Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675. Jay I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your mother. I had a great time with her on our trip to China a few years back. She was such a nice person. You and your family have my sincere sympathy.
