Bertha LeMAY Obituary



LeMAY, Bertha M. (Leonard)
Bertha M. (Leonard) LeMay, of Enfield, entered into eternal life, at the age of 80, on Wednesday, (July 18, 2013) with loved ones at her side at St. Francis Hospital & Medical Ctr. She was the beloved wife of 51 years to the late Robert G. LeMay. Bertha was born on June 4, 1933 in Bronx, New York, having resided in Enfield for the past 50 years and Chicopee, MA before that. After raising her children she worked as a Crossing Guard for the Town of Enfield for over 20 years. Bertha was a communicant of St. Martha's Church, in her leisure time she enjoyed doing crafts and ceramics, crocheting, cooking and jigsaw puzzles, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family. Bertha is survived by a son, Robert K. LeMay & his wife Laura of Enfield, a son Brian G. LeMay & his wife Diana of Enfield, and a son-in-law Scott A. Burgoyne, her beloved grandchildren; Steven LeMay & his wife Laura, Matthew LeMay and Gregory LeMay. Bertha is also survived by her siblings; Kenneth Leonard &wife Ellamae, Barbara Warren, Claire Carriveau & husband Bob, Thomas Leonard & wife Fran, Patricia Russo & husband Antonino, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents and husband she was predeceased by a daughter Susan M. Burgoyne, a brother Joseph Leonard and a sister Theresa Tougas.
Relatives and friends may gather with her family during calling hours on Sunday July 21 from 3-7 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield. The funeral procession will form at 8:30 a.m. on Monday July 22 at the funeral home to St. Martha Church for a 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in the Massachusetts Veteran's Memorial Cemetery Agawam, MA. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Martha Church 214 Brainard Rd. Enfield.
