MOONEY, Betty Lou
Betty Lou Mooney, 83, of Windsor Locks, beloved wife of Kevin Mooney of 59 years, entered into eternal peace, Monday July 8, 2013 at her home surrounded by her family. The daughter of the late Charles and Alice (Evans) Shanahan, Betty was born in Hartford, and had lived in Windsor Locks for close to 50 years. Primarily devoted to raising her family, she was also employed at Connecticut Mutual Insurance Co. and the Treasure Chest Printing Co. for several years. Betty enjoyed nature and was happy outside gardening as well as bird watching, but her greatest pleasure throughout her life was music and singing. Besides her husband, Betty is survived by three children, Kathy Mooney and her husband Raymond Paquette of Windsor, Kevin Mooney and his wife Pamela of Enfield, Mary Lou Prange and her husband John of Ellington; a granddaughter Kelly Mooney; three brothers, Robert Shanahan and his wife Norma of NH, Charles and Carl Shanahan both of Granby; two sisters, Alice Tralli and her husband Angelo of Berlin, CT, Susan Shykula and her husband Paul of NH; a brother-in-law, Sebastian DiDomenico of Windsor Locks, and many nieces and nephews and their children. She was predeceased by a brother, James Shanahan, and two sisters, Laura DiDomenico and Dorothy Pizzoferrato.
Betty's funeral service will be held 12 Noon, Saturday July 13, 2013 at the Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St., Windsor Locks. Calling hours will be held Saturday morning from 10 a.m. to 12 noon prior to the funeral service. Burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Donations in Betty's memory may be made to the East Windsor Ambulance Assn., 25 School St. East Windsor, CT 06088, or to the Windsor Locks Lions Volunteer Ambulance, 401 Spring St, Windsor Locks, CT 06096, .
