BOUCHER, Brigita E. (Palumbo)
Brigita E. (Palumbo) Boucher, 85, of Vernon, beloved wife of the late Jean R. Boucher, Sr., passed away Friday, (October 11, 2013). She was born November 8, 1927 in Hartford, CT and was the only daughter of the late Domenico and Carmella (Maulucci) Palumbo. Brigita was a member of the Sun Valley Beach Club for many years. She retired from Peoples Bank. She enjoyed cooking, traveling, playing cards, cross stitch, and embroidery. She was very proud of her Italian heritage and enjoyed spending time with her large, active, and close family. She is survived by her children, Jean R. Boucher, Jr. and Missy of Tolland, Gary Boucher and his wife Darla of Granby, Greg Boucher and his wife Terry of Ashford, and Christina Roberts of Norwich, her brother Guilio Palumbo of Tolland, her brother Mario Palumbo and his wife Doris of Tolland, and her grandchildren, Alyssa, Lauren, Olivia, Joshua, Amanda, D.J. and Mariah. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Irene Palumbo, Carol Palumbo, Doris Nordstrom and her husband Robert, brother-in-law Wilfred Boucher and his wife Albina, and many dear nieces and nephews. Besides her husband Jean, she was predeceased by her brother Umberto Palumbo, her brother Domenico Palumbo, her sister-in-law Connie Palumbo, and her companion of many years Ross Brodeur. Our family would also like to acknowledge her friends from Sun Valley Beach Club, her devoted neighbors Sylvia and Norman Johnson, Jeannine, Lorrie, and Henry, her long time hair dresser and friend Terry Tantillo, and her caregiver Christine Walker from Helping Hands Homecare.
Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, October 14, 2013 at the Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect St. Rockville, CT 06066. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at St. Joseph's Church, 33 West St. Rockville, CT 06066. Burial will follow at St. Bernard's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a charitable donation may be made in her name to St. Judes Children's Research Hospital or WoundedWarriorsProject.org.
