Carolyn Burch Obituary

1/26/1968-1/20/2016 Beloved daughter, sister, aunt and friend, Carolyn, passed away at Holmes Medical Center in Melbourne, Florida, after a courageous battle with a long illness. She is survived by her parents, James and Priscilla Scroggins of Melbourne, Florida; a brother James P. Scroggins, his wife Ruth and nieces Erin and Keira of Simsbury; a sister Cheryl Scroggins and friend John Kratochvil, nephew Nick McDermott of Union, and niece Jill McDermott of Norwich; a sister Mary K Hassler, her husband Jimmy, niece Estelle, and nephews Mason and David of Tolland. She also leaves her beloved pet Sandy and was pre-deceased by her furry soul mate, Chloe. Carolyn grew up and attended schools in Lebanon, CT. As a teenager, she moved with her family to Israel where she graduated from The American International School in Kfar Shmaryahu. Carolyn enjoyed competing in sports and was a natural and gifted athlete. She became a Certified Medical Assistant and was dedicated to helping others, both in actions and her kind words. She will be remembered by all who knew her for her smile and infectious laugh. A memorial service is being planned for a later date. Donations may be made in her memory to the American Lung Association or the Arthritis Foundation.

I had the pleasure of being Carolyn's roommate many years ago. My condolences to the whole family. She was a wonderful soul and will be greatly missed.

There are no words to describe how my heart yearns to speak to Carolyn one last time. She was such a source of light and encouragement, even in her suffering. I would not, however, have her live one more moment in the pain she endured for so long in order to fulfill my selfish purposes. I look forward to the day that I will see her again and we will sing praises to the Almighty. "A friend sticks closer than a brother". Carolyn was a true friend, indeed. Love to all her wonderful family. Joy Burch Gallaher
