Catherine Kern

Catherine (Scholl) Kern, 98, of Southington, passed away Friday, Jan. 10, 2014 at HCC Bradley Memorial. She was the wife of the late Clifford W. Kern. She was born Dec. 19, 1915 in Glendale, NY the daughter of the late Jacob and Sophie (Keiler) Scholl. She had been a secretary for the Southington Chamber of Commerce and the Pratt & Whitney Credit Union. She was an active member of the Calander House and she did crocheting, arts and crafts for all their Christmas fairs. She also worked bloodmobiles for 21 years, was an avid bowler and golfer and was a parishioner of Mary Our Queen Church. She is survived by a daughter Barbara and her husband Stephen DelBuono of Plainville, 2 grandchildren Deena and husband Robert Miller of Foley AL, Darlene DelBuono and her fiancé Clayton Keyworth of Plainville, and a great grandson Anthony Skrip. She also leaves several nieces and nephews including a special niece Roberta Rienecker of NY. She was the last of 8 children, predeceased by brothers, Michael, George and Jacob and sisters, Margaret, Elizabeth, Henrietta Anne. The Funeral will be Thursday 9:15 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. Southington to Mary Our Queen Church at 10 a.m. for a Mass. Burial will be at St. Thomas Cemetery.
