Catherine Klamerus Obituary

Catherine (Wacht) Klamerus, 86, of Broad Brook, beloved wife of the late Bruno Klamerus, passed away peacefully on Saturday, (December 14, 2013) in Granby. Born in Hartford on December 31, 1926, daughter of the late Peter and Josephine (Kisiel) Wacht, she was raised in Hartford and was a graduate of SS. Cyril and Methodius School and Bulkeley High School, Class of 1944. While living in Hartford Catherine was a parishioner of SS. Cyril & Methodius Church in Hartford and in later years, she was a communicant of St. Catherine Church in Broad Brook. Catherine worked for many years at Cedar Crest Hospital in Newington. In 1963 Catherine and her family moved to Enfield where she lived for 27 years before moving to Broad Brook in 1990. Catherine had a special place in her heart for children, especially babies. She would light up like a Christmas tree when she was around them - they made her so joyful and happy. She took care of many children through the years most of whom still kept in touch with her to this day. She loved to sing (especially her favorite Polish songs and hymns) and had a beautiful voice. She had a cheerful, merry soul and her laugh will forever ring in the minds and hearts of those who loved her. She was a great cook and expressed her love to others with her special Polish dishes. She always put the needs of others before her own. But most importantly she will be remembered for her steadfast love of the Lord, her Savior. She led her life truly believing that with God all things are possible. Her years of faithfulness here on earth opened the way to be with her heavenly Father. It would stand to reason that Catherine has gone home to our Savior, Lord and King Jesus Christ during the same month that her King was born. Her walk with Him is now eternal and as His child she has now transcended to be with Him forever in heaven. She leaves a daughter, Marion C. Joanis of Broad Brook; a sister, Margaret Mietkiewicz of Middletown; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by two brothers, Frank and Richard Wacht, and a special niece, Marie Mietkiewicz. Catherine's daughter would like to express her gratitude with a special thank you for the genuine concern and exceptional care Catherine received from the staff at Meadowbrook of Granby. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Friday, December 20, 10:30 a.m., at SS. Cyril & Methodius Church, 63 Popieluszko Court, Hartford. Burial will be private in St. Catherine Cemetery, Broad Brook. Waszkelewicz South Green Memorial Home, Hartford has care of the arrangements.
