Catherine E. Somers

Catherine E. (Bogardus) Somers, 90, of West Hartford and formerly of Farmington, wife the late Joseph Somers, passed away, Monday, January 20, 2014. Born in Hartford, daughter of the late Adelbert and Anna (Shaughnessy) Bogardus, she was raised here and graduated from Bulkeley High School. She was employed for many years by the Traveler's Insurance Co before her retirement. She was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church, Farmington and was active in senior activities at her home, the Court of St. James, Wrest Hartford. She leaves a brother Adelbert Bogardus and his wife Dorothea of East Granby; nieces Elizabeth Bogardus of Franklin, MA and Kathleen Averill and her husband David and their children Andrew, Sean, and Julia Averill of Walpole, MA. Family and friends are invited Saturday, January 25, at 10 for a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick's Church, 110 Main Street, Farmington.
