Charles Keen Obituary

Charles H. Keen, III passed peacefully into the kingdom of heaven on December 18, 2013, following a heroic battle with bladder cancer. He was a witty, easy-going man, with a passion for his family, his work, and a good game of solitaire. He loved to swim in his pool, fish, and take his "girlfriend" (dog) Bailey for walks. He touched many lives with his generous spirit and quirky sense of humor, leaving us all with many fond memories. He is survived by his wife and friend of 33 years, Kelly A. Keen. His children Dr. Julie Keen and Dr. Christopher Keen want to thank their dad for every opportunity he gave them and will continue to make him proud. He is survived by his brother Louis Eu (Gene) Keen of South Windsor, CT, his brother Matthew Keen and his wife Julie Cote Keen of Canton, CT, his brother Robert Keen and his wife Mary Keen, of Foley, Alabama, and his nieces and nephews, who he loved very much. His friends and colleagues brought fun and joy to his life. He was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Jackie Keen, and his parents, Charles H. Keen, Jr. and Anne (Tavano) Keen. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 23, 2013, 10 a.m., at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 673 Ellington Rd., South Windsor. Burial will be private at the request of his family. Donations can be made in his name to any charity of choice. Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home in South Windsor has care of the arrangements. I worked with Charlie at the old CBT for many years and he was truly one of my favorite people - always helping someone out with a laugh and a smile. He will be greatly missed. My deepest sympathy to his family.

I lost contact with Charlie quite awhile ago, but we worked together for a number of years, back in the old CBT/BNE days. I remember him as a great guy and he was always ready with a joke or an amusing story. My sincere condolences to his wife and family.

I was very sad to hear the news from my brother Rich that Charlie had died from complications of cancer. I saw and talked with Charlie at my niece's wedding in October. I have some fond memories of Charlie as my family and the rest of the Tavano offspring and clan gathered for the holidays or special occasions throughout all of those years. He was a soft spoken, kind and generous man and I will miss him. May he rest in peace and may the memory of him bring comfort to his family
