Clare L. Peterson, 86, of Manchester formerly of Oxford, widow of James A. Peterson, passed away Thursday January 23, 2014 at Manchester Memorial Hospital. She was born July 1, 1927 in Rockville, CT the daughter of the late John and Ida (Scussel) Girardini. She graduated from St Bernard's School in Rockville, attended New Britain College and graduated from the University of Connecticut with her degree in Physical Therapy. Prior to her retirement she worked as a physical therapist for a private practice. She enjoyed doing volunteer work, spending time with family and friends, shopping and dining out. She is survived by her sister Evelyn C. Angley of Ellington, her nephew Wayne Angley and his fiancée Mary Jane Deane of Stafford Springs, her niece Denise Angley-Cook of Ellington, her great niece Katrina Cook and Joshua Trosper, her great great niece Aubrielle Rose Trosper. She is also survived by her nephew Peter Peterson and his wife Jennifer of Southbury, her great niece Emily Romano of Providence, R.I., her great nephew Daniel Peterson of Japan, her aunt Gina Scussel, her cousins Janet Scussel and Adreana Scussel all of Stafford Springs.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday January 28, 2014 at 10 AM in St Bernard's Church, 25 St Bernard's Terrace, Rockville. Burial will follow in Southford Cemetery, Oxford, CT. Relatives and friends may join the family on Tuesday from 8:30 AM until 9:30 AM at The Burke - Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect St, Rockville.
