BRIERLEY, Clifford T.
Clifford T. Brierley, 91, of Vernon, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2013. He was born in Rockville, on September 14, 1921 son of Loretta (Byrnes) Brierley Hauptman and James Brierley of Vernon. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the South Pacific with the US Army Core of Engineers. Following return from service, he worked at Gasek Farms, then a baker at Stroehmann Bakery in East Hartford. He is survived by his wife, Shirley A. (Gasek) Brierley of 69 years. He leaves three sons and a daughter, Clifford Brierley of Vernon, Donald Brierley and his wife Patricia of Somers, Kenneth Brierley and his wife Cathy of Mansfield, Diane (Brierley) Rothwell and her husband Douglas of South Windsor; he also leaves two grandchildren, Sara (Brierley) Arteaga and her husband Francisco of Danbury and Daniel Brierley and his wife Kristen from Vernon. The family wishes to thank the staff at Vernon Manor.
Private family services will be held at the discretion of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial donations be made to the American Heart Association, 5 Brookside Drive, PO Box 5022, Wallingford, CT 06492.
