Domenico DIMATTEO

Domenico DiMatteo, 79, of Berlin was accompanied by the angels into eternal rest with his family by his side on Wednesday, November 20, 2013. He was born May 7, 1934 in Guardia Lombardia Avellino, Italy to the late Angelo and Arcangela DiMatteo. He came to America in 1954, where he resided in CT. He met and married his sweetheart Maria (DiPietro) in 1956 in New Jersey. He moved back to CT and was an employee of Fafnir Bearing for 28 years before retiring. After retiring from Fafnir, he worked part-time for DiMatteo Construction. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. His passions were gardening, planting his flowers, tending to his lawn and making his homemade wine. He can be most remembered for his growing and eating of his hot peppers. Besides his beloved wife, he is survived by his two sons, Angelo and his wife Jacqueline and their sons Tom and Maxx of Rocky Hill, Tom and his wife Mary and their daughter Marissa and son Andrew of Rocky Hill, and his daughter Josephine of Cromwell, and her daughter Jessica and son Casey. His brother Gaetano and his sister-in-law Filomena and a sister-in-law Maria DiMatteo, brother-in-law Joseph DiPietro and his wife Maryann of Massachusetts and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Armando, and his parents. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at 10:30 am at the New Britain Memorial-Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave. New Britain, followed by the funeral liturgy at 11:30 am at St. Ann Church, North St., New Britain. Entombment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery.
