Donald Lang Obituary

Donald K. Lang, 85, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Glastonbury on Tuesday January 14th. He was born on February 23, 1928 in Middletown where he and sister, Evelyn Goodwin lived until he joined the army in 1948. As a sergeant first class, he proudly served as a rifle instructor until 1952. He met his late wife Phyllis Pouchot in 1949 and they married the following year on August 26th. He is survived by his six loving children Barbara Lang of South Glastonbury, Patricia Schutts (Alan Schutts) of Lipan, Texas, Judith Lang (Randall Fish) of Granby, Philip Lang of Willington, David Lang of Stafford Springs and Mary Lang Killilea (Thomas Killilea) of East Hampton.Phyllis and Don loved to travel. In their early years of marriage they enjoyed camping and spending time in York Beach, Maine with their children. The family also owned a cabin in Newark, Vermont where he enjoyed hunting and snowmobiling. Later in life they traveled across the country visiting family and friends along the way. He will be greatly missed by his twelve grandchildren- Elizabeth, Logan, Siana, Kathryne, Lesley, Benjamin, Maxwell, Margaret, Meghan, Emily, Thomas and Josephine; as well as five great grandchildren- Keating, Eva, Ronan, Connor, and Reese who fondly called him "Moo". He leaves behind many friends including Lynn Perry, Mark Mahoney and the Douglas Black family of Massachusetts. A celebration of his life will be held for family and friends at the Pond House Grille, 2935 Main Street in Glastonbury, January 24th from 12:30 to 4:00 pm. The Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, Glastonbury, has care of the arrangements.

Lang Family, so sorry to hear of Don's passing. I know he loved his family, and missed his wife terribly. Don always had a story to tell, and it was usually about his travels or family. I will miss Don and his stories.
