MCKEON, Donald W.

Donald W. McKeon, 86 of Plainville and Southington, CT, beloved husband of Carmella (Boilard) McKeon passed away peacefully on Wednesday, (May 22, 2013) with his loving family by his side, following a long battle with Alzheimer's. Born in New Britain, CT Jan. 12, 1927, Donald was the son of the late Thomas F. McKeon and Hannah (Johnson) McKeon. Donald was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during World War II and worked as a foreman at Stanley Works for over forty years. A loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, his family was his pride and joy. Donald enjoyed spending time with his family and never missed a sporting event or school activity that any of his grandchildren were involved in. Donald enjoyed many family vacations and time spent in Las Vegas with his wife. Donald was an avid New York Yankees and New York Jets fan. He is survived by his four devoted children, Thomas McKeon and his wife Debra of Colebrook, Michael McKeon of Las Vegas, NV, Donna (McKeon) Krewson and her husband William of Southington, Deborah (McKeon) Rio and her husband James of Plainville; his six adored grandchildren, Michael Rio of Trumbull, Ashley (Krewson) Hunt and her husband Benjamin of Plainville, Kayla Rio and her fiancé Brian Kriscenski of Melrose, MA, Brittany McKeon of Colebrook, Courtney Krewson of Southington, Kaitlyn Krewson of Southington and his great-granddaughter Sophia Hunt of Plainville, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. In addition to his parents, Donald was predeceased by his three brothers Edward, William and Frances and two sisters Lillian (May) and Helen.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Bailey Funeral Home, 48 Broad St., Plainville. Family and friends are invited to gather one hour prior to the service, from 10-11 a.m. Committal services with military honors will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Plainville. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made, in Donald's name, to the Alzheimer's Resource Center, 1261 South Main St., Plantsville CT 06479. The family of Donald would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff of the Alzheimer's Resource Center for their dedication and loving care.
