Dorothy Bouteiller Obituary
Dorothy Bouteiller, 100, passed away on January 10, 2014. She was the devoted wife of the late Louis Bouteiller. Born September 10, 1913 in Canaan; the daughter of the late Clifford and Lillian (Kimber) Fitzgerald. Dorothy grew up in Canaan. In 1933, she graduated from Danbury Normal School for teaching and moved back to Canaan. In 1940, she married her husband and they lived in Canaan until they purchased a dairy farm in North Granby. Dorothy taught at the East Granby Elementary School retiring in 1984. She was currently residing in Litchfield. She leaves her children, Rita D'Amico and her husband Jerry of Litchfield and Janet Mashia and her husband John of Killingworth; grandchildren, John David Mashia, Jr., and wife Michelle of Skaneateles, NY and Christopher M. Mashia and wife Diana of Naperville, IL; and great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Emma and Vivian. She was predeceased by two brothers, James and Jack Fitzgerald.
Friends may call on Monday, January 20, 2014 at Montano-Shea Funeral Home, 922 Main Street, Winsted from 5-7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at St. Joseph's Church, North Canaan at 11 AM. Burial will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Cancer Care Fund of Litchfield Hills, Inc., Golf Outing, PO Box 1704, Torrington, CT 06790. Visit an online guestbook at montano-shea.com.

Mrs. Bouteiller was also my 5th grade teacher many years ago, 1971-72. We were the first year of the open school setting in Seymour School and I have very positive memories of her. In fact, I was just thinking about her yesterday! May she rest in peace.

Mrs. Bouteiller was my 5th grade teacher in 1972 at the D. Seymour School. She taught me many lessons in life at a very young age. I had lost my Mother several years earlier and she would often pull me aside and have "our special talks". She was also a wonderful teacher. I have thought about her and her kindness so many times over the years. I am so blessed to have had her in my life. My condolences go out to her family. Thank you for sharing your Mother with all of us.
