Earl L. Edwards

1930 - 2014

Jesus called. Earl answered and will join his wife Beverly. Earl L. Edwards, born December 4, 1930, to the late Walter and Julia (Wiegold) Edwards, beloved husband, father and grandfather, went to be with his Lord and Savior Friday, January 24, 2014. Husband of the late Beverly (Cassells) Edwards, he leaves his daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Mark Karas, and granddaughters, Kendra and Brianna all of Vernon; his son, Glenn Edwards of Willington; his brother, Walter Edwards of Vernon; several nieces and nephews, and many friends at the Ellington Wesleyan Church where he was an active member for many years. Earl enjoyed music, playing the guitar and drums, and doing crossword puzzles with his group of friends at Dunkin Donuts. He was proud to have served his country as a U. S. Marine. He was a lifelong resident of Vernon and he enjoyed participating in the annual Memorial Day Parade in his antique Mercury Comet. Prior to his retirement in 1995, Earl was employed by the Connecticut Light & Power Company for 39 years. His family will receive friends for calling hours on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 from 6 - 8 p.m. at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road (Route 83), Vernon. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Ellington Wesleyan Church, 276 Crystal Lake Road, Ellington. Burial will follow in Grove Hill Cemetery, Rockville with military honors.
