Earle C. Wilson

Earle C. Wilson, 95, of Higganum, beloved husband of 70 years of Martha (Zimmermann) Wilson died Sunday, December 1st at Middlesex Hospital. Earle was born in Middletown, son of the late Robert and Theresa (Anderson) Wilson. He was a veteran of World War II serving with the U.S. Army 30th Infantry. He continued his service to country by participating in the VFW throughout his life. Prior to his retirement, Earle was a painting contractor, for many years in partnership with his brother, Bob, and then on his own. He was a sports enthusiast, was a member of the bowling and horseshoe leagues, taught his daughters to play softball, was a Red Sox fan, and glued himself to the TV to watch the UCONN women's basketball games. Besides his wife, Earle is survived by two daughters, Jeanne Wilson Foege and her husband Robert of Newtown, Linda Wilson and her husband David of Higganum, a sister, Phyllis Hajek of Moodus, a grandchild, his best buddy, Jesse Wilson Ross and several nieces, nephews and extended family. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Higganum Congregational Church, 29 Parsonage Road, Higganum. Burial with military honors will be in the State Veterans' Cemetery.
